5-6 March 2026 (Thursday-Friday)

Model Parliament is a non-formal educational experience based on a simulation of a democratic parliament where young people can learn how to debate, negotiate and vote on fictional legislative proposals.

Our story began in 2022 when Ariel Chis, a former parliamentary advisor in the Romanian Parliament, organised the first Model Parliament simulation at the American Corner within the National Library of Romania. The event was so successful that it lead to the creation of EUcivitas, a Romanian based NGO focused on non-formal education in the fields of social sciences, with a special focus on experiential learning such as simulations, role-playing games and interactive workshops.

The committees are the core of a parliamentarian's legislative activity. This is where elected officials come together to analyze pieces of legislation that then are sent to the plenary session.

The plenary session is where the members of parliament come together to debate and vote on the legislative proposals that have been scrutinised by the parliamentary committees. Imagine 35 members of parliament from 4 very different parliamentary groups coming together to passionately propose amendments to laws.
